Lake Manyara National Park Serengeti Wildlife Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1: Moshi/Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

Distance: 203 km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included

Pick-up from Moshi and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive in the park. Witness diverse wildlife, including tree-climbing lions and flamingos. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge/campsite, followed by an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. This park is one of Tanzania’s most stunningly positioned wildlife areas, featuring a vast but shallow alkaline lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the base of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The diverse habitats of the park draw a wide range of wildlife, including one of Africa’s highest densities of elephants, Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, and large flocks of flamingos that feed on the lake’s algae.

Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti Plains

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included

After breakfast, we set off for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the scenic highlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the elevated terrain behind, we descend into the heart of untamed Africa—the Serengeti National Park—where the vast plains stretch as far as the eye can see. Our journey takes us to the central region of the park, known as the Seronera area, which is one of the park’s most wildlife-rich zones. It features the Seronera River, a crucial water source that attracts an abundance of wildlife, showcasing a wide variety of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and later embark on an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park Full Day Game Drive

Experience a unique opportunity to soar in a hot air balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at an additional cost with prior booking). Drift silently above the waking savannah, spotting wildlife and taking in the breathtaking African landscape, gliding over rivers and numerous small villages below.

After breakfast, we embark on a game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops through the plains south of the Seronera River. This area is ideal for sightings of lions, Thomson’s gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. After the morning game drive, we visit the Visitor Centre near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites, which is definitely worth exploring. The center is well-designed and features captivating wildlife exhibits, a gift shop with informational brochures and maps, and a store selling cold drinks and snacks. There is also a picnic area and a nature trail around a nearby kopje. We will have a leisurely picnic lunch under the shade of the towering acacia trees.

In the afternoon, we explore the Kopjes Circuit, which runs counterclockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, often drawing a number of lions and some impressively large cobras. Kopjes are ancient granite formations scattered across the plains, each forming a small ecosystem, offering shade and water in natural pools left after rains. These features make the kopjes excellent spots for observing wildlife during the dry season—including lions that often wait for thirsty animals to approach!

Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included

After breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park. The park stretches along the Tarangire River and is characterized by gently rolling hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Its diverse landscape is primarily composed of Acacia woodlands and majestic African Baobab trees, with vast swampy areas in the south. During Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and the swamps serve as a magnet for wildlife. Tarangire National Park is known for having some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. It also shelters three rare animal species—the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and the Ashy Starling. After enjoying a picnic lunch, we will embark on an afternoon game drive.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire National Park

Non-game driving travel time: 3½ hours

Distance: 155 km

After breakfast, we head to Tarangire National Park. The park follows the course of the Tarangire River and is primarily composed of gently sloping hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Its natural vegetation is predominantly Acacia woodlands and towering African Baobab trees, with expansive swamp areas in the southern part. During Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and swamps serve as major attractions for wildlife. Tarangire National Park is known for hosting some of the largest elephant populations in Africa. It is also a sanctuary for three rare animal species—the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch, we embark on an afternoon game drive.
